House fire on South Chestnut Street Friday night

SOUTH BEND, Ind - The South Bend Fire Department responded to a residential house fire at 219 S. Chestnut St., around 5:20 p.m. Friday night, according to officials.

The report states crews were met with fire and smoke coming from multiple windows in the two-story vacant structure.

Officials state there's no reports of injuries to any firefighters and that the fire was contained to the vacant structure.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation. More information may be released in the future as it becomes available, according to the report.

Fire Investigators remind the public to not enter the structure due to the extreme danger of possible collapse due to fire damage.
