KOKOMO, Ind. – Vice President Mike Pence visited the General Motors plant in Kokomo today to thank the employees for their hard work. Since the end of March, the plant has focused on making thousands of ventilators to help hospitals fight COVID-19.
On April 16 the company delivered their first order of 30,000 units to northern Illinois hospitals.
General Motors is currently working on ventilators to send to northern Indiana.
"It's an honor for us to be here today to be among heroes in the Hoosier state who are saving lives all across America. We are so proud of each and every one of you," said Vice President Pence.
The company’s plan is to make another 30,000 ventilators by the end of August, and to ship about 6,000 of them by June 1.
