MGN INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- For at least 30 days, the gas tax in Indiana will be paused.
Indiana Governor Mike Braun announced that, through that time period, the 7% usage tax on fuel will be suspended. This is based in an emergency declaration the governor gave today. In a statement, Governor Braun said the following:
“I am declaring a gas tax holiday to give Hoosiers relief from the pain at the pump from high gas prices. Affordability is my top priority.”
State officials will reevaluate the tax holiday after the 30 days have passed. Governor Braun also said the state will monitor prices at gas retailors to "ensure that savings are delivered to Hoosiers at the pump."
