Victim in Marion St. shooting dies, suspect charged with murder

The man who was charged with attempted murder in the shooting of Andrew Blankenship Sr. on January 2 is now facing murder charges. Blankenship died of his injuries on Wednesday.

Quincy Lunford was previously charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, armed robbery, battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery resulting in serious bodily injury.

The prosecutor’s office dismissed the previous charges and refiled charges against Lunford on Thursday.

Lunford has been charged with murder and armed robbery.

Lunford will be in court on Friday.

UPDATE: In January 2023, Lunford was found guilty by a jury of reckless homicide and armed robbery. In February 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years and 182 days at the Indiana Department of Correction for the charge of reckless homicide. This sentence was enhanced three years, from seven and a half years, for a firearm enhancement. He was sentenced to nine years at the Indiana Department of Correction for the charge of armed robbery. These sentences will be served consecutively.
