Voters hit the polls for early voting before May primary

NOW: Voters hit the polls for early voting before May primary

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Election Day is on Tuesday but there are plenty of reasons why people got their early vote in early.

Throughout the month of April, several early voting locations, like the County City Building, have seen many people walk through to submit their ballot.

The convenience gives voters the opportunity to get their ballots in before Election Day.

This allows them to avoid scheduling conflicts and the crowds.

With early in-person voting and the option for mail in absentee ballots, a local absentee voting party chair says there's no reason not to vote this election season.

"It just makes it convenient for people that are going to be out of town, we also mail out ballots, students that are in college, people that are still on vacation they can apply for an absentee ballot by mail," said Laurie Seifer, Supervisor of Absentee Voting Democratic Party.

Today is the last day for early voting.
