Weather condition reports throughout Michiana

Michiana residents are dealing with freezing rain, high winds, ice and rain. Traffic accidents due to weather have been reported throughout Michiana. Several areas are also dealing with power outages.

Here is the latest information:

Traffic update from INDOT posted to Facebook at 6:12 p.m.

Icy conditions are improving out there across the Northwest District, and much of the sleet/freezing rain has turned over to rain. Most roadways are wet and slushy.

The icy conditions are giving way to high water and high winds in most areas. A full call-out of plow/salt trucks continue to push back accumulating slush and sleet while checking drainage to ensure water can recede properly.

High winds are a major concern in the overnight hours as branches and other debris could create road blockages or downed power lines and signals. Crews will be on the patrol watching for this, but drivers should be extra careful. Remember, if you ever come across a traffic signal outage, it should always be treated as a four-way stop.
