Weather conditions force South Shore to cancel trains

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Officials with the South Shore Lines have announced the freezing temperatures have greatly impacted their train schedules, causing delays and cancellations.

"Due to frigid temperatures continuing to impact mechanical components and train movement, passengers are advised to expect frequent and excessive delays Jan. 16," the company stated in a release. 

The following trains are canceled for Jan. 16: Westbound trains 216, 218, 220, and 222; and Eastbound trains 209 and 217.
