Widespread damage after storms roll through Michiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Rain, lightning, thunder. People are waking up this morning without power with outages across Michiana.

We received video showing incredible lightning storms dancing across the sky, streets flooded near Miami under the railroad bridge, and a tree fallen down in the middle of the Fellows and Haney Street intersection.

The City of South Bend Municipal Government posted on their Facebook page that there are 16 signalized intersections that are currently being considered 4-way-stops due to lack of power, including Washington and Chapin.

Currently, Indiana Michigan Power has the largest outage on the west side of South Bend with 1,950 customers without power and as of 9:30 just under 14,600 in total.

While some areas are still having the conditions assessed, the earliest time for power restoration is 6 am for some areas, 1 pm for Colfax Avenue, and others are still being assessed.

This outage map shows the specifics on who and where are the effected areas. If you click on the colored spots you can see how many customers are being affected as well as the estimated restoration time.

You can see all of the power outages and estimated restoration times here on Indiana Michigan Power's website.
