Winnebago to resume most manufacturing operations by mid-May

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.— Recreation vehicle manufacturer Winnebago Industries is planning to reopen many of its manufacturing facilities by mid-May.

The company is currently planning to reopen some production facilities, including Chris-Craft and speciality vehicles starting the week of April 13.

According to the company’s press release, Newmar and Grand Design RV manufacturing facilities, of which there are multiple in Elkhart County, are scheduled to resume operations the week of May 4.

Winnebago Motorhomes is also set to resume production the week of May 4, followed by Winnebago Towables the week of May 18.

Winnebago Industries said that upon employees returning to work, precautions such as social distancing measures, sanitization practices, and daily employee health checks will be put into place.

The Iowa-based company specializing in RVs temporarily suspended most production activities weeks ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

seems to me they will resume when the governor says they can,,did they forget it takes thousands of other manufacturer employees to supply them? not to mention, the dealers are full and it will take everyone the rest of the year to catch up on everything before they will be buying rvs again,,they will just delay the inevitable,,rv shut downs,,they might as well face the music,,,rvs are done for the year and every one that is familiar knows it,,rv industry is always the first to drop in bad economic times
