Woman, babies escape house fire

A woman and two babies were able to escape a home after it caught fire this morning in South Bend.

Just before 10:30 a.m., fire crews rushed to the house near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Grove Street.

On scene, at least two firefighters stood on top of the home's roof working to put out hot spots.

A neighbor said he saw smoke coming from the home and, at first, thought it may have been steam.

At this time, fire officials believe an electrical shortage may be to blame.
