Woman charged in connection to fatal July crash

St. Joseph County Prosecutors charged 27-year-old Ashley Tuckey in connection with the death of Mary Fulks on Tuesday. 

Tuckey was charged with causing death while operating a motor vehicle with a controlled substance in the blood and operating a motor vehicle without receiving a license. 

Officials say probable cause was found and an arrest warrant was issued. 

Tuckey’s bond is set at $40,000 corporate surety or $4,000 cash.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. on July 3rd, Mishawaka police officers responded to the intersection of Main Street and McKinley Avenue in regards to an injury crash. 

Tuckey was driving eastbound on McKinley Avenue and allegedly ran a red light and struck 22-year-old Mary Fulks who was driving northbound on Main Street. 

Fulks died on July 12th in result from her injuries.
