Woman faces OWI charges after crash seriously injures 47-year-old man
La Porte County Jail: Mackenzie J. Miller LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports a 21-year-old Walkerton woman has been arrested in connection with a two-vehicle crash which occurred on S.R. 2 just west of C.R. 100 South, around 8:46 p.m., Sunday.
The report states a deputy responded to the scene regarding a two-vehicle crash with serious bodily injury.
The initial investigation determined a red 2014 Buick, driven by Mackenzie J. Miller, was traveling east on S.R. 2
At the same time, authorities say a silver 1999 Toyota, driven by 47-year-old Franklin W. Lile of Wanatah, was traveling west on S.R. 2.
The report states Miller then crossed the center and collided head-on with the Toyota.
Authorities say Lile was then airlifted to a hospital for treatment of serious bodily injuries.
Miller was then taken by a deputy to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. After being medically cleared, Miller was taken to La Porte County Jail.
A probable cause affidavit and charging information was forwarded to the La Porte County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Probable cause was found and Miller has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Causing SBI, a Level 5 Felony, Operating While Intoxicated, Endangerment, a Class A-Misdemeanor, and Operating While Intoxicated, Class A-Misdemeanor.
Miller remains in jail and is being held on a $15,005 cash-only bond.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
