SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The 14th Annual Bears in the Air program started Wednesday morning at the South Bend International Airport. Community leaders were there to place the first bears in the "Bear Den."
"The airport's growing, and we need to find some ways to give back to the community," said David Sage, President of the St. Joseph Airport Authority Board.
Its overarching purpose is to provide support to children and veterans in the community who could use a little extra help or a reason to smile.
The kick-off party is Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the airport and is open to anyone 21 and older. The entry fee is $35, and the event includes food, cocktails, and door prizes.
