24-year-old man charged with Child Molesting after meeting child on Snapchat

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A 24-year-old man has been charged with Child Molesting after meeting the child over Snapchat.

The 24-year-old, Landon Haggerty, was charged with three counts of Child Molesting Where Defendant is at Least 21 Years of Age as Level 1 Felonies.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, the victim said that they had met Haggerty over Snapchat when they both disclosed their ages and continued having conversations there until they began a "relationship" that included sexual intercourse.

Once officers began to pursue Haggerty, a friend of his noted that he'd sent a message stating "he wouldn't go back to jail, and he would die before he did."

Haggerty was then found at the Quality Inn after his phone number was pinged nearby. Haggerty was brought into custody and charged.

Haggerty's initial hearing has been set for Monday, Mar. 2.
