The Department of Education says 311 schools made the list based on ISTEP test scores from 2012-13.

The state gives four stars to schools in the top 25 percent in three categories of the standardized ISTEP tests.

In our area the schools that made the list were South Bend's Christ the King School, Saint Joseph High School, Saint Joseph School, Marian High School in Mishawaka, St. Pius X Catholic School in Granger, and St. Thomas the Apostle School in Elkhart.
