GOSHEN, Ind. -- A $300,000 grant from Indiana's READI 2.0 Arts & Culture Initiative has been awarded to the Northern Indiana Clay Alliance for a new Clay Center in Goshen's historic downtown district.

Alliance officials say grant is part of a $1.5 million overall investment into the center.

The Clay Center is set to feature 8,000 square feet of instructional space, private studios for rent, an artist-in-residence program, and an exhibition gallery featuring award-winning artists from around the country.

The Center will be located at 118 S. Main St.

“Northern Indiana, and Goshen in particular, has been the home to an incredible ceramic tradition for over 200 years. This facility, supported by the state’s READI 2.0 Arts & Culture Initiative, will create education opportunities for all ages, along with jobs and help generate further economic investment in the city’s downtown historic district,” said Trevor Daugherty, NICA Executive Director.

Officials say through partnerships with local schools, colleges, and retirement centers, NICA will provide educational programming for Goshen's entire population, including Spanish-speakers.
