Dozens of new apartments may be coming to Niles.
A 48-unit apartment complex is planned at 411 Fort Street, just south of downtown. Developers have dubbed it "The Forge".
The Niles City Council will consider granting a commercial facilities exemption to the property during its Sept. 25 meeting. The exemption would freeze the taxable value of the currently-vacant property for 10 years so developers can move forward with the project.
The Council will decide on a similar request for a new restaurant at an old church, Monday.
The company behind Round Barn Winery wants to build a restaurant with a tasting room, bar, and live music at the former Grace United Methodist Church at 501 Grant Street.
Round Barn is also asking for a commercial facilities exemption, hoping to make the site a destination spot.
