62-year-old man sentenced to six years for Child Solicitation
St. Joseph Superior Court ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Steven Myers, a 62-year-old, was sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison for Child Solicitation by the St. Joseph Superior Court.
On Monday, July 14, Myers contacted someone whom he believed was a 13-year-old girl on a dating app. In truth, she was a decoy who works for Bikers Against Predators.
Myers and the decoy traded cell phone numbers, and Myers began a sexually explicit conversation with her, asking for pictures of her vagina and sending pictures of his penis.
On Wednesday, July 16, the decoy invited Myers to her house under the pretense that her mother worked third shift and would be gone all night.
The decoy agreed to walk to a Meijer on Bremen Highway in Mishawaka. When Myers arrived, he was confronted by members of Bikers Against Predators.
An inspector from the St. Joseph County Special Victims Unit interviewed Myers, receiving an admission that he went to the Meijer with the intent to have sex with the supposed 13-year-old, had solicited her for nude photos, and send images of his penis.
Myers later entered a guilty plea agreement for Child Solicitation on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and a separate charge of Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors was dropped.
