SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Episcopal Cathedral of Saint James held its 29th Annual Shortcakes on the Blacktop Strawberry Festival on Thursday.
People were able to swing buy and pick up their own strawberry shortcake for just $6.
The proceeds from the event went to local charities in South Bend.
Catherine Craker, Co-Coordinator for Shortcakes on the Blacktop, stated, "We are incredibly grateful to everybody who comes out and volunteers their time and donates their money and their resources and we are very grateful to our consumers come and have a shortcake and benefit your local community."
This year's recipients include Saint Margaret's House, a day shelter for women and children, The Chiara Home, which provides personalized care for those in need, and The Dismas House, a non-profit that helps former prison inmates transition back into society successfully.
