Marshall County Sheriff\'s Office

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A canine officer alerted Marshall County officers to search a car during a traffic stop Monday evening, leading to the discovery of a plastic bag containing methamphetamine.

An officer stopped a gray 2007 Mercury passenger car around US 30 and Elm Road at roughly 8:50 p.m. Monday, driven by 61-year-old Gearld L. Pond Jr.

During the traffic stop, a canine officer with the Plymouth Police responded to the scene, alerting to the car and providing probable cause for a search.

Within the car, officers found a white powdery substance in a plastic bag; a field test came back positive for methamphetamine.

Pond was then transported to the Marshall County Jail and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.

Pond was given a cash bond of $1,500.
