Abandoned baby in Houston found wrapped in a plastic bag

HOUSTON -- Sheriff's deputies are searching for the family of a baby found abandoned, wrapped in a plastic bag, in Houston on February 19.

A woman walking her dogs near an apartment building said her dogs started to bark at a plastic bag. When she checked, she saw the newborn.

Police are hoping her mother or some relative will come forward and either claim her or officially allow another family custody.

"Hopefully once that is sorted out, she will be placed in a loving home. There is no shortage of people who want her," said Christina Garza, spokesperson for the Harris County Sheriff's Department.

Police are working with the best sketch artist in the state. The artist is creating sketches of what her parents might look like.
