Aftermath of a smash and grab robbery at Kay Jewelers
GOSHEN, Ind - A new video captures the aftermath of a smash and grab robbery at Kay Jewelers.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, and now, two days later, police are still trying to track down possible suspects.
“I just grabbed my fiancé and dove to the floor to protect her,” said an anonymous witness.
A customer snapped a video inside the jewelry store, showing shattered glass everywhere and display cases ransacked.
“One of the ladies behind the desk, like near the registers, screamed or yelled like 'what the heck are you doing,' or 'what the f are you doing' and he hit it again. That’s when it smashed and the glass blew everywhere,” said anonymous witness.
A couple who was at Kay Jewelers ring shopping says they weren't even there for five minutes when the armed robber rushed through the door, leaving witnesses including the man's fiancé, terrified.
“I felt initially very angry," said anonymous witness. "I was a bit scared, but just really furious and angry. In that moment, I felt like I couldn't protect my fiancé."
The witness said the robber did threaten people in the store, saying if they pulled anything or tried to stop him, he would shoot them.
He says the whole situation put a damper on what should have been a happy day.
“[We were] shopping for such a special thing, [...] our wedding bands, so yeah, I just really hope they find the guy and arrest him, cause until then, I doubt we will be anywhere near the area,” said anonymous witness.
