Amanda Knox acquitted

PERUGIA, ITALY -- Amanda Knox is a free woman! Late on Monday afternoon, an Italian appeals court threw out her murder conviction -- after nearly four years in prison!

Knox and her former boyfriend stood accused in the 2007 death of her roommate, Meredith Kercher. Knox collapsed in tears after the verdict was read, while supporters here in the United States celebrated!

Before the verdict came down, Knox made an emotional appeal for her release.

She and her parents may be allowed to leave Italy as early as Monday night.

Of course, ABC News will have much more on the verdict on World News with Diane Sawyer.
