Amtrak dealing with mechanical problems, passengers delayed

ST. JOSEPH , Mich. -- People riding the Amtrak train out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Chicago will be late arriving to their destination on Tuesday afternoon.

An Amtrak spokesperson said the train had mechanical problems on Tuesday morning.

The train arrived in St. Joseph just before 11 a.m. There were 60 passengers on board who were moved to two motor coaches to take them the rest of the way to their destination.

Amtrak did not say what the status is of the return trip to Grand Rapids at this time.
