SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Monday, children got free haircuts at the Monroe Circle Community Center.
The ninth annual "Haircuts 4 Kids" event just wrapped up.
Councilman Henry Davis Junior and Nipsco helped sponsor the event.
They say a fresh haircut is just what a child needs to head back to school and local barbers are happy to help.
"You're talking about barbers cutting 12 or 20 heads and if you do 20 heads times 12 or 15, that's what the barbers are giving up for the day," said Davis.
Dozens of kids stopped in for the free haircuts.
They were also treated to lunch and new backpacks.
