Attorney for South Bend officers responds to Boykins' counter lawsuit

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The attorney for a group of law enforcement officers responded to a counter-suit filed by former Police Chief Darryl Boykins.

The officers are suing the city of South Bend and Boykins because they claim he recorded their phone calls illegally.

Boykins filed a counter claim against the officers on Tuesday.

He says they committed fraud and defamation to launch a federal investigation.

On Wednesday, the officers' attorney gave us this statement.

"I've reviewed the allegations of the counter claim. My clients categorically deny all of the allegations. We feel extremely confident that the facts, when they all come to light, will support the plaintiff's claims. They will establish there's no basis in the fact or law to the counter claim," attorney Daniel Pfiefer said.
