Attorney offers legal advice on lotto office pools

For those thinking about jumping into an office lotto pool, here’s something to consider.

It’s a good idea to get a lawyer, or at least establish a set of rules. A New Jersey attorney told the Wall Street Journal folks need to agree to some guidelines.

He said a list with all the names and numbers of everyone in the pool should be handed out and everyone who puts in cash should get a copy of the ticket.

Special rules should be considered if someone who always participates goes on vacation or gets sick when money is collected.

Last spring, a man missed out on his share of a $319 million jackpot due to not being there to throw $2 into the pool.
