MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- Police in Northwest Indiana assisted in locating a 3-month-old child Tuesday after they were notified by Marshall County authorities.

The Merrillville Police Department reports Central Dispatch was notified around 12:30 p.m., that a vehicle associated with the child abduction was detected by a Flock License Plate Reader in the area.

Officers responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle.

Police safely recovered the child, who was unharmed.

A woman was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect is being held pending further investigation by the appropriate agency.
