Benton Harbor students receive tools for learning

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Some Benton Harbor students got a nice boost at school on Monday.

Sixty students at Morton Elementary School were each given a backpack full of new school supplies, as part of AT&T's Tools for Learning project.

Volunteers distributed the backpacks to the children on Monday morning.

"I think we provided encouragement.  I think they understand that we care about their education and we want their education experience to be successful and fulfilling," said Tom Fanning, one of the volunteers.

The event on Monday kicked off a week of giving to the Benton Harbor community.  On Tuesday, AT&T is set to donate $20,000 to the Benton Harbor Boys & Girls Club.
