NILES, Mich. — The Berrien County Health Department is reminding families about the dangers of underage Marijuana use through its campaign ‘Dirt on Weed’.
Using substances like marijuana, alcohol and other drugs before your brain is fully developed can cause negative effects on things like memory, concentration and decision making.
The health department offers an evidence-based, intervention program called ‘Project Toward no Drug Abuse’ that helps young people identify why they use and get on a path without those habits moving forward. Kids and teens can be referred to that program from a school, the court system or a parent or guardian.
You can find more information about the harm in underage substance use here.
