Berrien County Health Department hosts back to school events August 1 & 3

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The Berrien County Health Department is hosting two back to school health care events on August 1 and 3.

The first "Back to School Bash" will be held on August 1 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the department's Benton Harbor office, located at 2149 E. Napier Avenue.

The second event will be held on August 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the department's Niles office, located at 1205 N. Front Street.

During these events, students can get a number of required immunizations and screenings completed before returning to the classroom.

Students can also participate in a number of at the event, including face painting, seed planting, and a visit from Spider Man.

Community members will also find information on a number of resources, like health insurance assistance and parenting classes, at the event.

Access to these resources are available to individuals with and without insurance.

“We know going back to school can be especially busy for families as they prepare for the upcoming year,” said Health Officer Guy Miller. “By offering services and resources at one convenient event, we hope to make it easier for families to check some things off their to-do list while helping kids prepare for a healthy academic year.”
