Berrien County opens up cooling stations due to power outages

Because of the power outages affecting a portion of Berrien County, county officials have set up three cooling stations for residents who need to cool off from the higher than normal heat index. The cooling stations will be closing at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The cooling stations are located at:
- New Buffalo Township Public Safety Building – 18959 US-12, New Buffalo Mich. 49117
- Michiana Village Hall – 4000 Cherokee Drive, New Buffalo Mich 49117
- Lake Township Hall - 3220 W. Shawnee Road, Bridgman, Mich
- Lakeshore Public Schools Auditorium - 5771 Cleveland Avenue, Stevensville, Mich (please use door #10)
They are open to anyone who needs a place to cool off.
Face masks are strongly recommended regardless of vaccination status.
