BUCHANAN, Mich. -- Sunday marked the third and final day of the Buchanan city-wide garage sale, which featured a total of 87 garage sales for Michiana residents to browse through.
Normally, Michigan state law requires that anyone hosting a garage sale is required to have a permit from the area clerk's office, but that stipulation was removed for the weekend; freeing up dozens of homeowners and businesses to pass on their old items.
Some local spots, like the Blue Paw Pet Spa, took in donations from around the community and sold items at donation price, with all proceeds heading toward the Humane Society of St. Joe County.
A similar sale held by Steamworks Robotics raised funds for the Buchanan Robotics Team, which hosts several fundraisers per year to hit their annual competition budget of $20,000.
For another sale, proceeds went towards the purchase of new pants for the Buchanan High School football team.
More information about the annual event and a garage sale map with descriptions of each sale are available here.
