Burn Amnesty Week ends with fire in St. Joseph County

Burn Amnesty Week didn't end well in  Penn Township, St. Joseph County.

Officials say a large brush fire rekindled at approximately 4:20 a.m. Sunday and spread to an RV and part of a garage in the 13700 block of Haynes Avenue.

The RV is listed as a complete loss and there was significant damage done to the garage, resulting in a total of $70,000 worth of damage.

Authorities with the Penn Township Fire Department want to remind everyone that burning should always be considered extremely dangerous.

Also, if you are going to burn, officials say it is important to remember not to burn next to a structure or vehicle, which they say was a factor in this incident.
