California lawmaker wants condoms in prisons

SACREMENTO, Calif. — One California state lawmaker says it's time to give inmates a way to practice safe sex behind bars.

The Associated Press reports that some California prisoners have unprotected sex which often leads to the spread of disease.

The proposal comes despite a law forbidding sex between inmates.

The lawmaker wants to have condoms available in each of the state's 33 adult prisons no later than 2020.
