Call about active shooter at Elkhart General deemed miscommunication, no actual threat

ELKHART, Ind. - Police rushed to Elkhart General Hospital Wednesday afternoon for an active shooter call but the dispatched message was a miscommunication, and law enforcement determined there was no actual threat, according to the Elkhart Police Department. 

Multiple police units were at the hospital at 2:24 p.m. for the incident.

By 2:30 p.m., the call was cleared, and police determined there was no legitimate threat.

At no point in the day were hospital staff or patients in danger.
