Cassopolis barn damaged in fire

Firefighters responded to a fire at a barn in Cassopolis Friday afternoon.

The fire happened around 1:25 p.m. in the 65000 block of Robinson Road, near Buffalo Lane in Cass County.

Firefighters say no people or animals were injured in the fire.

The owner told police the barn was the first structure built on the property and was a family treasure.

Neighbor Brenda Glover captured the fire on video.

"I was scared. I had experience with a fire before and out in the country, we basically know whatever is on fire we're going to lose because it takes the fire department so long to get out to the residences out here," said Glover.

She added she was sad to see the barn go up in flames.
