SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point is taking extra precautions to keep its visitors safe in the case of severe weather this season.
Nearly 20,000 people visit the outdoor theme park each day.
The park has taken steps to make sure it's certified as storm ready.
The certification includes the operation of a 24 hour emergency operations center.
There they watch radar screens, monitor wind and lightning protection equipment.
It is estimated that 5 to 20 lightning strikes hit the park every year and most of those occur during the operating hours.
