Celebrate Equal Pay Day by wearing red

The YWCA is encouraging women to wear red on April 14 to symbolize how women are "in the red" when it comes to their earnings.

Women are consistently paid less than men in Indiana and other states for doing the same work and Equal Pay Day aims to call attention to this persistent inequity.

Statistics show a woman would have to work a full calendar year through April 14 of the following year to make the same salary as a man doing the same job from the previous year.

Currently, women are paid almost seven percent less than men just one year after college, and the gap only grows from there.
