MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- On Saturday, Dec. 5. the Mishawaka Fire Department announced that Fire Chief Byron Woodward has decided to retire at the conclusion of his distinguished 30-year career of service.

Chief Woodward has led the department with professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the safety of the residents of Mishawaka for the past 10 years.  

Chief Woodward’s last day in the office will be Feb.13, as he prepares to transition into retirement. 

He has played an instrumental role in advancing our mission, supporting our firefighters, and ensuring the continued growth and readiness of the department.

The department is grateful for the dedication, vision, and steady guidance he has provided.
