SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The deadline is Monday for citizens interested in applying to be enrolled in the South Bend Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy.

The academy promotes an understanding of the department and the way work is conducted.

Students will receive training in all aspects of law enforcement and learn about the issues police officers deal with each day.

This academy will last nine weeks from August 10 to October 5 with classes on each Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

With only 40 spots remaining in this free academy, anyone interested should apply as soon as they can.
