City cleans up mess in Benton Harbor neighborhood

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – ABC 57 News has an update on a Benton Harbor neighborhood that has become an illegal dumping ground!

We first showed you Valley Drive on Friday. Hundreds of tires and piles of trash were scattered on the side of the road! Neighbors were fed up!

Well, the city saw our story, and this week crews have been out cleaning up the mess!

On Tuesday, neighbors told us they hope the city stays on top of it.

"At least try to come in once a week to see how it looks or how what's going on. I really appreciate them coming to get those tires,” said Victoria Johnson, a neighbor.

The city tries to keep up with all the dumping, but said it's nearly impossible.

Workers told us they picked up more than 100 tires.
