City of Dowagiac announces Pokagon water main extension project
Dowagiac, Michigan DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- On Tuesday, Dec. 2, crews working on the Pokagon water main extension project will be doing required hydrant flushing from approximately 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
During that time period, sediment disruption may result in temporary discoloration of water for Dowagiac water customers.
If you do experience any water discoloration, run cold water at the faucets closest to your incoming water line for five to ten minutes. If color persists, wait five minutes and repeat. Avoid laundry until your water runs clear. This will prevent any sediment from settling in your water heater.
The flushing location is just outside the City. The water will be directed into a large ditch and field area, and the team will monitor the flushing to ensure that water is controlled and kept to an area where freezing will not disrupt travel or cause other safety issues.
