SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Planning to move in for the fall semester? The weather will be the least of your worries.
Move-in is officially underway at Notre Dame, and the forecast is looking ideal. Expect mostly sunny skies and afternoon highs in the 80s for a pleasant start to the semester.
The weekend will bring more of the same: mild temperatures in the 70s and 80s under partly cloudy skies, with little to no chance of rain. If you tend to get chilly easily, you might want to bring a light long sleeve, especially for the cooler mornings.
Overnight temperatures will dip into the 60s and even the 50s on some nights, so don’t forget to pack an extra blanket.
This year’s move-in weather is a big change from last year. In 2024, move-in began with highs in the 80s but quickly escalated into the 90s, peaking at 97 degrees during the first week of classes. Rain showers also made an appearance. Overall, last year wrapped up meteorological summer with above-average warmth—whereas this year, we’re closing out August slightly cooler than normal.
So go ahead and pull out those cozy Notre Dame hoodies—mild temperatures are expected to stick around as the first week of classes kick off.
