COLOMA, Mich. - Coloma Elementary School reached its goal of collectively reading for more than 100,000 minutes.
The district participated in the "One School, One Book" program where all the kids read the same book together.
And not only did the students reach their goal, they also surpassed it, reading for a collective 150,000 minutes.
This year they all read the book "The Lemonade War".
Kelly Jo Severin, Literacy Coach, stated, "For us community is everything, the community within the building, but then the outside community, of the other buildings being able to work together. We did this with Coloma Intermediate, so they were reading the same book with us."
Friday, the students celebrated with cookies and lemonade and they each received their very own copy of the second book in the series they picked "The Lemonade Crime".
