Community cleans up Benton Harbor

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- The City of Benton Harbor got a facelift on Friday.

It was day one of a community-wide clean-up effort for the Senior PGA.

More than 250 volunteers are picking up trash this weekend.

Right now, crews are focusing on the main thoroughfares, but they will go into neighborhoods if they have time.

It's all part of a plan to get visitors to come back again.

"To make southwest Michigan look as good as it possibly can so that people visiting here realize what a beautiful place it is," said Christine Scharf.

They are still looking for volunteers.

Anyone interested can go to the corner of Colfax and Main on Saturday.
