Community leaders partner to address student attendance in South Bend

Tackle Attendance

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Team Excel and Gentlemen and Scholars will be hosting a special Tackle Attendance session, featuring football defensive back standout Leonard Moore, aimed at reducing absenteeism in South Bend Community Schools by inspiring students and strengthening community support for academic engagement and personal growth.

Leonard Moore has made a significant impact both on the field and in the community. In addition to his elite performance, Moore champions mentorship and attendance advocacy through his initiative Tackle Attendance South Bend, which connects students with leaders and positive role models to emphasize the importance of consistent school engagement and academic success.

Session one will take place Friday, Feb. 6, at Clay International Academy, and the second session will take place Friday, Feb. 13, at Edison Middle School.

Each session will take place at 12:30 p.m. and will encourage students to view school attendance not just as a requirement, but as a steppingstone to future opportunities.

Through dynamic discussion, Q&A, and personal stories of perseverance and goal setting, Moore and partners will motivate participants to embrace attendance, ambition, and community involvement.
