Couple rescued from Lake Michigan during a grueling 36-hour swim

LUDINGTON, Mich. -- A couple is lucky to believe after they were rescued from Lake Michigan.

Jeff and Sara Tow were trying to swim across Lake Michigan and had the finish line in sight when they were forced to stop.

The duo had to be picked up by a boat and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

They were experiencing the affects of dehydration, hypothermia and hallucinations.

The couple says the current started to drag them north and kept them from finishing.

The Tow's say the will take it easy for several days to allow their bodies to hear from the 36 hour swim.
