A powerful winter storm will bring heavy snow, along with windy -- BLIZZARD -- conditions, Thursday evening through Friday. The heaviest snowfall is 6:00 PM Thursday through 6:00 AM Friday. The strongest wind gusts happen during the midday hours Friday. Blizzard conditions have happen without snow FALLING! Wind gusts topping 40 mph, midday Friday can cause whiteout and severe drifting, especially across north-south roads. Dangerous wind chill and bitter cold only heightens the hazards for anyone stuck outside. The worst of the weather is done by Saturday morning, but impacts will linger through the weekend with winter driving conditions and lake effect snow near the lake.
If you can stay home from 6:00 PM Thursday through 6:00 AM Saturday that should allow time for road crews to improve driving conditions.
