Update: Death investigation in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A vehicle-pedestrian collision leaves one dead at the scene on Friday, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim has been identified as Mark Warren, 58.

The collision took place just 3 miles North of the city limits of Syracuse, Ind.

A Ford F-250 was traveling south on County Road 29, south of County Road 50. The F-250 allegedly struck Warren while was walking on the west side of the roadway, deputies said.

The F-250 fled the scene, deputies said. Warren was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

Debris was found at the scene, showing that the vehicle either was a Ford F-250 Super Duty truck or a larger Ford truck with front passenger-side damage, according to deputies.

This investigation is currently ongoing.
